Concepts and principles of unjust enrichment are the theoretical basis of unified rules that impose obligations to make restitution of enrichments that are legally unjust. Their origins are found in centuries of developing legal constructs and curial reasoning that has defined the rules in an independent branch of legal taxonomy.
