The global phenomenon of forced displacement prompted by civil wars through prolonged political instability presents profound and transformational experiences to the lives of individuals and societies. While millions of people flee their homes escaping political violence, actors within regional and international spheres are affected. Consequently, experiences of these civil wars produce a series of social, economic, and political implications to affected populations who subsequently move cross-borders under duress into neighbouring countries as refugees while those trapped within the country of violence become internally displaced persons (IDPs). This enduring human condition occasionally meets the attention and urgency it deserves from the international community.
