This study proposed a novel approach for reliable detection, identification, and prediction of seaweed-carbon deposits in marine sediments through eDNA (high taxonomic resolution) and fatty-acid signatures (strong chemotaxonomic differentiation) along with sophisticated modelling with potential for quantitative application. The findings are substantiation to incorporate seaweed into blue-carbon and climate-change-mitigation schemes.
