This study tailored long period stacking ordered phases in magnesium rare-earth alloys to investigate the effect of the phase volume fraction on the hydrogenation behaviour of the alloys. It was found that hydrogen absorption kinetics and capacity increased with increasing phase volume fraction, but the increase in hydrogen desorption kinetics did not linearly correlate with increasing phase volume fraction.
