Cultural Characteristics of the Australian Civil-Military Relationship

The thesis identifies the cultural characteristics of the Australian civil-military relationship through public discourses surrounding the Victoria Cross awards, combat deaths and Centenary of Anzac. The findings suggest that the relationship is variously ambivalent, apologist, temporary, demiurgic and estranged and perpetuates a civil-military gap.
