This research explores the concept of evaluative judgement of academic writing and the type of activities in the writing context that can be mapped into the practices of evaluative judgement. The findings showed that evaluative judgement of academic writing is a capability with three interrelated components: understanding standards of quality, making judgements, and taking actions. It was also revealed that three types of activities (peer review, group discussion, and reflection on performance) had a significant impact on the development of these components.
