Development of an Aptamer-Based Drug Delivery System into the Brain

This thesis investigated an alternative approach to delivering drugs across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and into the brain tissue. It involved identifying protein targets on the BBB and developing nucleotide-based ligands, called aptamers, against the target protein. Candidate aptamers were generated using specialised protocol and can be developed further for targeted drug delivery strategies.<p></p>
