Discursive Practices Shaping Girls’ Physics Identity

This thesis investigated the gender gap in physics and how it is framed as an elite discipline that alienates girls. It utilised Connell's theory of gender relations and an identity construction framework. The findings revealed that girls navigate a perfect storm of negative influences should they consider pursuing physics.
