Dissection of the assembly and operation of the Plasmodium export machinery

This thesis aimed to further explore Plasmodium Falciparum's essential protein export complex, the Plasmodium Translocon of Exported Proteins (PTEX), to assist in identifying new druggable targets to combat malaria. This research utilised reverse genetic and molecular techniques to identify possible new PTEX components and the essential sequences that make up the PTEX core constituents EXP2 and HSP101.
