This thesis explores the theft of water in Australia's Murray-Darling Basin. It identifies that water theft is constituent of a broader socio-political narrative split between the Northern and Southern Basin. A culture of over-extraction, mismanagement and maleficence, predicated on decades of exploitation and harmful water policy since European Settlement, has given rise to the state-facilitated theft of water.
