Ecology and conservation of insectivorous bats in rural landscapes

thesis
posted on 2004-01-01, 00:00 authored by L. F. Lumsden
Insect-eating bats are a major component of our native mammal fauna, but little is known of their ecology and conservation. This study documented habitat requirements of bats in rural landscapes. The protection of remnant vegetation is critical for the long-term survival of bats in farmland, because mature trees provide essential foraging habitat and specialised roost sites.
