Effect of Scandium on the Portevin-Le Chatelier Effect and the Surface Quality of Aluminium-Magnesium Alloy

This thesis investigated the impact of Sc/Zr additions on Portevin Le Chatelier effect that manifests as marks on the alloys' surface. The findings due to Sc additions showed that reduction of PLC severity and improvement of surface quality could widen the application of 5xxx series Al-Mg alloys to both the inner and outer components of automobiles.<p></p>
