Effect of precipitates on twin propagation in Magnesium-4.5Zinc alloy

The effect of precipitates on {10-12} twin in Mg-Zn alloys was investigated using in-situ Synchrotron X-ray diffraction technique. The effect of precipitates on the CRSS of different deformation systems was measured experimentally in samples with different aging conditions and compared with the Orowan strengthening model. Results confirm that the Orowan model needs modifications for better prediction.
