Effects of cotton structure and surface interactions on dye uptake

This work investigated the effects of various cotton fibre properties and processing conditions on dye uptake. Raw cotton colour was found to be the primary factor influencing shade, highlighting a need for more extensive colour measurement in mills and dyehouses, and the importance of consistency in treatments prior to dyeing.
