Twenty-three sedentary women employed at a major hospital, (aged 19-54) undertook six weeks of moderate intensity cardiovascular, strength and flexibility exercises in one of two training groups. Measures of functional physical fitness were assessed prior to, and immediately following the intervention program. There was no significant improvement in measures of functional strength. Measures of functional flexibility significantly improved in both training groups. Cardiovascular fitness improved approximately 25% in both training groups.
