This thesis proposes three methods for the automatic prediction of frontier scientific topics: extracting biterms from the texts of publications to represent frontier topics, forecasting frontier topics by mining emerging patterns of those biterms, and predicting influential innovative publications of frontier topics by analysing emerging temporal patterns of citations.
