Psychological contracts contain employee and employer obligations. This thesis found that psychological contracts of employees contain employer obligations of career and job support and employee obligations to have a work focus and to be flexible. It also found that psychological contracts affect organisational commitment. These findings were taken as empirical evidence that psychological contracts affect careers.
