This study drew on Bourdieusian theoretical constructs to explore English language teachers' beliefs about their pedagogic practices in the context of Indonesian pesantren. Findings highlighted complexities of inclusion of non-religious subject-particularly English-into pesantren's religious education contributing re/shaping of teachers' pedagogic beliefs and practices.<p></p>
