Epidemiology of Buruli ulcer cases and a potential screening test for exposure

Buruli ulcer is a necrotizing subcutaneous skin condition caused by Mycobacterium ulcerans. This study has provided an epidemiological update of Buruli ulcer cases in Victoria. In addition, a standardised approach has been used to generate and comprehensively characterise protein preparations for a pilot serological screening test to understand exposure.
