This thesis evaluates commonly used terrestrial biodiversity indicators, including the Red List Index and the Living Planet Index for their usefulness in policy decision making, in the context of the Convention on Biological Diversity. It applies conceptual and quantitative methods developed in economics, fisheries and marine sciences to achieve this.
