FUNCTIONALISED SILK MATERIALS FOR WATER TREATMENT APPLICATIONS

This study investigated raw silk fibres and waste silk fabric for water treatment applications, while demonstrating excellent environmental biocompatibility, and biodegradability. Raw and waste silk were surface functionalised, and the findings showed that these silk materials can be effectively utilised for removal of hazardous oils and solvents from oily wastewater.
