Temporal variation in flowering of individual trees and populations of six species has been documented, together with insights into spatial patchiness of flowering across the ecosystem. The work has also highlighted a greater liklihood of flowering by larger trees, revealing their importance as a nectar source for invertebrates, birds and mammals.
