This thesis examines whether institutional investors affect Australian listed firms’ performance by moderating CEO power and compensation. Results show that some institutional investors’ short-termism affects their monitoring activities, so policy makers should consider making institutional investors more accountable and take a more active role in the governance matters of listed firms.
