This thesis examined how women negotiate multiple subjectivities as they establish themselves as leaders in rural schools in Australia. Designed as a qualitative, feminist poststructuralist study, arts-based methodologies identified 'sites of struggle' around gender, race, and the rural. The research findings pointed to a triple threat to women's leadership in rural schools.
