Human rights in context: positioning Pacific children with disabilities’ priorities

thesis
posted on 2019-03-21, 00:00 authored by E Jenkin
This thesis developed an inclusive method by which to listen to and understand the human rights experiences and priorities of Pacific children with disabilities, in order to effect change. The children’s priorities and aspirations were then analysed against the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) as a method to identify children with disabilities’ human rights priorities and assist governments and non-government agencies with treaty body reporting. The method has since been drawn upon by the Women’s Refugee Commission in Ethiopia and UNICEF Cambodia to enable the priorities of children with disabilities to inform policy and practice.
