The chronic high level of unemployment and the failure of traditional economic policies to reduce poverty in Ghana makes microenterprise development crucial to future approaches to sustainable poverty alleviation. Examines whether the extended family constrains the growth of microenterprises thus preventing their graduation into the mainstream economy.
