Imperfect democracy and the political economy of land acquisition

The study characterises conditions under which inefficiencies such as holdout and violence in land acquisition for industrial progress arise precisely because of the interplay between imperfections like bureaucratic corruption, legal and extra-legal influence of political parties and motivated civic societies, that are endemic to LDCs and distort property rights.
