This folio includes the report of four studies which provide insights into more effective teaching of English in secondary schools in Thailand. The major study focused on a collaborative process with teachers to develop professional development to improve the teaching of English. Three minor studies investigate related issues: teachers' views on teaching English, a case study of teaching LOTE in an Australian school and professional development in Thai schools. Interactive, participatory or student-centred pedagogies to improve the teaching of English as a foreign language in Thai classrooms are possible.
