Information and Constraint: Democracy, Media, and Political Debates on Fighting the Islamic State

For citizens to hold their elected representatives to account and constrain their decision-making, there must be widely available information on the policy in question. This thesis explores the relationship between information and constraint by studying how Australia, Canada, and the UK debated the need to fight the Islamic State in mid-2014.
