This thesis discusses the advantages of using a microgrid integrated with renewable energy sources in electrical energy generation and the design of an intelligent control scheme for smooth mode transition of a microgrid during unintentional islanding as the mode transition process can be critical and impact network performance, system stability, voltage/frequency fluctuations, etc.
