Interrogating the paradox: distributed leadership and 'Sheikhocracy' in Jordanian schools leadership

The study critically examined the implementation of distributed leadership, an imported Western education leadership reform program, in Jordanian public schools. The findings demonstrate that Jordanian tribal leadership styles are seen in Jordanian public schools. Jordanian tribal belief generates mechanisms that sustain tribal leadership practices in Jordanian public schools and contest the applicability of distributed leadership in in this context.
