Investigating cytokine receptor functions in zebrafish

Zebrafish was used as a model to study specific cytokine receptors involved in cell-cell communication. This identified novel functions for Cytokine receptor-like factor 3 in blood cell development and prolactin receptor in bone formation, but not leptin receptor, which was not involved in food intake or metabolism in fish.
