Journalist or novelist : How do readers receive works of literary journalism and what impact does that have on the genre’s claims to truth-telling and inclusion in the genre of non-fiction?

This study situates the underprivileged reader in the discourse of literary journalism by analysing how readers process its use of literary devices to tell true stories. It shows engaged readers can be trusted to navigate the blurred boundaries of literary journalism, alleviating concerns over its non-fiction status and truth-telling claims.
