Linguistic behaviour in email interaction and recipient attitudes: request emails by Iraqi speakers of English

The results of this study show that native speaker email recipients can develop negative or positive attitudes towards non-native speaker senders and their email messages on the basis of the language and discourse structure used in the message. They highlight the factors that cause this issue and produce implications for both ESL/EFL pedagogy and intercultural communication.
