Male Barroom Aggression: Associations with Substance Use, Trait Variables and Masculinity Factors

thesis
posted on 2023-11-27, 04:51 authored by Steven Robert Litherland
This thesis examined predictors of male barroom aggression quantitatively and the meanings of masculinity qualitatively. It found alcohol use to be the strongest predictor of barroom aggression, with amphetamine-type stimulants and personality traits also acting as greater risk factors than masculinity. Further, masculinity appears to have evolved in a contemporary Australian context, comprising more gender-neutral human qualities.
