The thesis is an examination of Greater Melbourne's indigenous plants movement from the 1930s to the early twenty first century. Drawing on local archives, personal papers and conservation literature it demonstrates the Melbourne University Botany School's important role, and reveals how inhabitants of an urbanised area conserved their indigenous flora.
