Mortality Prediction for Emergency Laparotomy in Australia

This thesis aimed to determine whether the standard emergency laparotomy risk prediction models are well calibrated to the Australian patient population. The findings suggest that these models are useful for identifying emergency laparotomy patients at low- versus high-risk of mortality, however actual mortality rates were found to be lower than predicted.
