Motivational Characteristics of Gifted and Talented Secondary English Learners in Hong Kong

This study investigated the salient effects of age and gender on the second language motivational selves of 52 Chinese learners of English, in Grades 7 and 10 at a special secondary school for gifted and/or talented students in Hong Kong. The findings identified six new and nuanced second language motivational constructs.
