Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) is the light from chemical reactions, initiated with electricity. Using the ECL of Ir and Ru molecules, this research presents the: ECL occurring at both the working and counter electrodes in multi-colour ECL systems; the ECL of novel blue luminophores; multi-colour ECL from the mixtures of iridium(III) complexes; and the application of multi-luminophore ECL in a light-emitting device.
