Adenosine is a local hormone that mediates cardiac effects relative to the regulation of heart function via interaction with specific receptors. Target compounds were synthesised having potential for the further study of the mechanism of interaction of adenosine with these receptors, allowing for advancements in the development of potential pharmaceuticals.
