This thesis argues that the AFLW and its Twitter discourses reveal new forms of sport fan subjectivity and digital publics sitting outside of our established understanding of women's sport fans, and sport fandom in general. It uncovers new interpretations of politicised fandom, anti-fandom and the nature of community by extending theoretical perspectives on online identities and affective networked publics.
