Novel sizing agents for carbon fibre

This study investigated the synthesis of sizing agents from terpenes, which are used to size functionalised and pristine carbon fibres. The results indicated that these sizing agents and surface modified fibres operates synergistically to significantly improve the interfacial shear strength of the carbon fibre reinforced epoxy resin matrix composites.
