Older adults' neuromuscular adaptations to resistence training and effects on challenging gait tasks

The study found major improvements in the way older adults negotiate environmental obstacles following a strength-training period. Large increases in voluntary activation of the leg muscles compared to relatively smaller gains in muscle tissue suggest that neural factors may play a greater role in explaining strength gains in that population.
