This research examined the relationship between sarcopenia and surgical outcomes. A meta-analysis and cohort study demonstrated sarcopenia to be an effective predictor of surgical outcomes - both mortality and major complications. Separating the commonly used sarcopenia measures revealed psoas muscle density to be the most effective radiological marker of sarcopenia.
