Parental mental health from preconception to postpartum and infant emotional reactivity

This study found that parents' mental health problems in the decades before pregnancy predict not only their own perinatal mental health, but also their children's emotional reactivity. Findings support calls to improve the mental health of young men and women before the transition to parenthood, with benefits for their own wellbeing and the healthy development of their children.
