Pedagogy of effective Asia literacy for undergraduate business students in Australia
This research examined the pedagogy of Asia literacy in Business studies at two Australian universities of contrasting characteristics, teaching methods, academic staff credentials and unit-level outcomes in 2013-2015. The findings identified factors that could facilitate or impede the process of constructing the appropriate level of Asia literacy within one semester during undergraduate Business studies. Recommendations were presented to consider pedagogical designs that recognize and utilize the diversity in classrooms, including international students, Australians who are unfamiliar with Asia, lecturers/tutors of Asian heritage and Asian-Australians. This research adds to the scholarly literature about development of Asia literate workforce in Australia through professional degree programmes in Australian universities.
