This thesis investigates personal identity from within the context of a seemingly simple question:'what am I?'. The project explores the inherent limitations of contemporary answers by critiquing their metaphysical framework. An existential Heideggerian approach is offered as a way to enrich the context of the question and better synthesise fundamental elements of personhood.
