Physiological and Molecular Indicators of Smoltification in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar)

This thesis studies the effects of environmental factors on smoltification in Atlantic salmon, and draws on physiological, molecular and cellular evidence from a combination of farm-based and lab-based studies. It found that photoperiod regime and timing of seawater transfer significantly affects smolt growth, survival and physiology after transfer to seawater.
