The work done in this study lead to the isolation of plant growth regulating fungus Aspergillus sp. that can enhance the growth of wheat plants while inhibiting the growth of weeds in agricultural fields. Further, the acidic potassium permanganate assay coupled with HPLC revealed the antioxidant potential of the fungal extracts. Moreover, the structure-function studies of indole derivatives using the aforementioned assay showed that the indole moiety plays a key role in the generation of the CL signal.
