Using political contributions to political parties in the United States as the proxy for a firm’s political ideology, this study examines whether a firm's political ideology affects auditors’ assessments of audit risks and audit fees. The study finds that political ideologies influence audit fees as well as firms' various financial outcomes and decisions.
